"Supporting each other to achieve together"

Homework

We will regularly give children work to do at home.

We ask that parents and carers work with and encourage their child at home wherever possible.

Regular homework and daily reading helps children to build on their learning at school.

The following will apply to each class:

  • Homework (including spellings) will be set each Friday and will need to be returned by the following Thursday
  • Parents should read daily for 10 minutes with their child and sign the reading record which is checked at least weekly by the class teacher (as reading records are also used as contact books, any 'pressing' queries should be brought to the attention of the class teacher by the pupil or parent)
  • As part of the weekly maths homework times tables will be given
  • Holiday homework will be given out but won't need to be returned until a week after coming back to school

At the beginning of each school year, year group meetings are held by each class teacher.  At these meetings the class teacher will outline the curriculum being taught, expectations, homework procedures in addition to answering any questions and give ideas on how best to support your child.
